About AskFive

AskFive shows somebody the gap between who they think they are and who the five people who know them best consistently say they are. Self-perception against reputation. The gap is the product.

You already have a reputation. It exists whether you look at it or not, and it is being updated by people who will not tell you. It decides how you get treated. Almost nobody gets a straight look at it, because asking is awkward and the answers people give to your face are edited.

Every personality test you have taken asked one person about you, and that person was you. Whatever comes out is a description of your self-image with a name attached, which is why the result usually feels correct and changes nothing.

The instruments that professionals respect are better built and have the same hole. One of the most widely used explains, in its own report, that other people are aware of these tendencies and may not give you any feedback about them. It is right, and then it has only your answers to work with. We have the five people who were not going to tell you.

A rating scale gets you agreement with a word. Asked to score a friend on reliability, somebody has to decide what reliability means, and you learn their definition rather than your friend's behaviour.

A conversation can ask what happened. It can chase the specific week, the actual sentence, the thing they noticed and never mentioned. That material is the only kind producing a result which could not have been written about somebody else. Getting it is the hard part of this product, rather than the presentation around it.

AskFive is built by Mighty Maverick LLC, a US company. It is a small operation and it is not backed by anybody who would need us to grow faster than the evidence does.

That matters for one specific reason. The pressure in this category is always toward saying more than you can support, because a bolder claim converts better and nobody can check it. Being small is not a virtue, but it does mean nothing forces us to publish a percentile we have not earned.

Somebody answering questions about a friend is doing something socially expensive, and the promise that their words never come back to that friend is what makes honesty possible. Everything else we build is downstream of keeping it.
