Privacy

We collect what you type or say during an interview, and an email address if you give us one. If you speak, the recording is turned into text and deleted within 24 hours. We never build a voiceprint. We never sell anything to anybody.

Your answers. The text of what you said in an interview, whether you typed it or spoke it. This is the material the result is built from, so we keep it.

An email address, if you give one. Used to send you a link back to your own result and to invite the people you choose. It is not used for marketing and it is not passed to anyone else.

The names and contact details of the five people you invite. Used to send the invitation and for nothing else. We do not build a profile of them and we do not contact them again afterwards.

Ordinary technical records. Our servers log requests, which includes an IP address and a timestamp, because a service that logs nothing cannot be debugged or defended against abuse.

This is the part most worth reading, and it is the reason this page exists before anything else on the site.

When you choose to speak, your browser records the audio and sends it to us. We pass it to a transcription service, which turns it into text. We keep the text. The audio recording is deleted within 24 hours of being transcribed.

We never create a voiceprint. A voiceprint is a mathematical model of how somebody sounds, used to identify them. We do not make one, store one, or buy the ability to make one.

We never analyse how you sound. Not your emotion, not your stress, not your accent, not your personality from your voice. The engine that runs the conversation only ever receives text, so it cannot tell whether an answer was spoken or typed.

We never use your voice to work out who you are, and we never turn on speaker separation or speaker identification in any tool we use.

Record somewhere private, so the only voice captured is yours. If you would rather not speak at all, typing counts exactly the same and produces the same result.

The person who asked them never sees a sentence any of them wrote. Not quoted, not anonymised, not paraphrased closely enough to identify who said it.

There is one exception and it is narrow. A single common word, supplied independently by three or more of them, may appear as that word. One word cannot be traced to a speaker.

None of the five ever sees another one's answers, and none of them sees what the person said about themselves. If somebody stops partway through, what they had written is not used. The page they read before starting makes the same promises in the same words.

Our servers and storage are Amazon Web Services. Transcription is an AWS service. Payment is handled by a payment processor, and we never see or store your card number.

Those companies are handling data on our behalf under contract, not using it for their own purposes. We have asked AWS not to use anything we send it to improve their own services.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. There is no advertising on this site and no third-party tracking scripts on the pages you are reading.

Audio: under 24 hours, always. Interview text and results: for as long as your account exists, because that is the thing you came back to read. Invitation contact details: until the invitation is finished or expires.

Email hello@askfivetest.com and ask. You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete all of it. We will do it and we will not make you explain why.

If you ask us to delete everything, that includes the answers your five gave about you. It does not include anything we are required to keep for accounting.

AskFive is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect anything from anybody under 13, and if we find out we have, we delete it.

AskFive is offered in the United States. We are not marketing or selling into the European Union today. If that changes, this page changes first.

If we change what we do with your data, we change this page in the same release. A policy that describes a previous version of the product is worse than no policy.
